A Course in Convergent Systems-Level Thinking

In this talk at the 2018 BMES Annual Meeting, Kevin Janes describes what makes for good quantitative biological reasoning (QBR); why a course in methods and logic in biomedical engineering is important; why it resonates especially for students training in biomedical data science and systems biology; and how Dr. Janes approaches this pivotal course.

BME 4550/7370 QBR is offered as an elective each spring to first and second year graduate students and fourth year undergraduate. It is a required course for students participating in UVA's NIH T32 Biomedical Data Science Training Grant (Jason Papin, PI).
