Instructor: Devon Alexander

Time: Friday 3-3:50

This semester-long Rodman seminar is a group discussion of the style and mechanics of videogames developed by popular game franchises such as Super Mario, Pokemon, and Yu-Gi-Oh. It will also discuss basic competitive strategies common to each franchise to help students improve their skills at playing each game. Furthermore, students will be presented with multiple “design workshops” throughout the semester where they can develop and present their own games; however, they are not obligated to attend the workshops to participate in the class. Students will also have the opportunity to share any other franchises besides the aforementioned three that they would like to discuss during the semester.

Instructor: Vincent Zhang

Time: Friday 3-3:50

This seminar offers a comprehensive introduction to ethical hacking, catering specifically to students with no prior experience in cybersecurity. We will cover essential topics such as ethical considerations, Linux and Windows fundamentals, the basics of the internet, web attacks, database injection, binary executable exploitation, reverse engineering, and open source intelligence reconnaissance. This seminar provides a neutral and professional environment for students to explore the ethical implications of hacking tools and methodologies.

Did you ever feel like you did a lot of service in high school, but it's been difficult to fit volunteering into your schedule here in college? If so, this is the choice for you! In this Rodsem, we will all volunteer together once every other week (for roughly an hour each time). On the off-weeks, we will watch videos and have short discussions on WHY we are serving. We will be thinking about whether or not the service we are doing is actually helping society grow, as well as digging into WHY the service might be needed in the first place. This seminar will be super laid back, and it is ultimately aimed at allowing us all to think about how we can contribute to our broader communities in a more purposeful, intentional way.
