Academics
As a UVA Engineering student, you'll study with faculty who are international leaders in their fields, and our school's relatively small size means students get plenty of access to - and one-on-one attention from - their teachers.

You don't become an engineer by sitting in lectures. UVA Engineering students spend a significant amount of time working on projects with real-world applications - programming robots to help people with disabilities, 3-D printing human tissue samples, or designing smart home and transportation systems.
In your first year at UVA Engineering, you'll take two semesters of Engineering Foundations -- a core course designed around project-based learning. You'll have a chance to learn about each of our undergraduate programs before declaring a major in the spring of your first year.
