While there are many resources for support at the University, we encourage students to advocate for themselves to the best of their ability and seek out support early and often.
It is especially crucial that if you encounter a significant problem that impacts your academics very broadly (i.e., is not confined to a single class), you should seek support and consultation.

Matthew B. Panzer
Dr. Panzer is the Associate Dean for Graduate Education and Post-Doctoral Affairs for the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, a Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia, and the Deputy Director at the Center for Applied Biomechanics.
Amy Clobes
Amy provides graduate student support, which often looks like helping students navigate their UVA experience and connecting students to School and University resources. She also provides guidance on academic policies, manages school fellowship awards, and assists in recruiting new students.
Priya Date
Priya creates and develops programs and initiatives to support the professional, personal, and career growth of graduate and professional students; provides career counseling and advisement support to students; and supports efforts to attract a diverse student population.
Jayne Weber
Jayne is responsible for maintaining student records, entering student milestones, enrollment, tracking academic requirements and overseeing degree conferral.
Jennifer Mauller
Jennifer oversees Virginia Engineering Online (VEO), assisting both degree and non-degree graduate students in the engineering school. She provides student support, maintains student records, and assists with course registration.
Carla Davis
Carla manages graduate student recruitment, outreach and engagement efforts toward increasing the quality and diversity of the graduate student body. As the secondary university representative for the National GEM Consortium, she serves as liaison between GEM fellowship applicants and departments.
Ashley Haddox
Ashley works closely with the Graduate Engineering Registrar maintaining student records, entering student milestones, enrollment, tracking academic requirements and overseeing degree conferral. She also provides support for graduate student admissions and recruitment along with fiscal support to the Office of Graduate Programs.
Departmental Support
Your faculty advisor, the program coordinator, and the director of the graduate program are your primary contacts in your department. Reach out to them with matters related to research, academic progress, funding concerns, and problems within your program.
Student Wellness Support
Students in the School of Engineering have access to an expansive student support team, including an embedded UVA assistant dean of students, counselors from UVA's Counseling and Psychological Services team, and a counselor from UVA's Student Disability Access Center.
