Hardware for IoT: Opportunities, Needs, and Challenges - Panel Discussion

Robot Dog "Spot" is a quadraped robot from Boston Dynamics. It is very useful for navigation through environments that have been traditionally challenging for robots, such as climbing up and down stairs. Prof. Nicola Bezzo and his lab are programming Spot to safely and autonomously navigate cluttered and occluded environments.

UVA Link Lab Graduate Student, Sudhir Shenoy leads the demonstration of NAO Robots.
We explore the abilities of NAO humanoid robots to adapt to users through emotion recognition and adapt through a combination of gestures, sound, effects and verbal communication.

Robot Assisted Surgery - Surgeons train for robot-assisted surgery by practicing tasks such as suturing and pick and place on simulators and in dry-lab settings.
UVA Link Lab Graduate Student, Kay Hutchinson explains the research and capability of the Robot. Our research focuses on decomposing suturing and pick and place tasks into smaller components that we can model and analyze for safety towards the goal of creating a context-aware safety monitor for robotic surgery.
