Information about Engineering Student Council Scholarships and Grants

The Engineering Student Council recognizes that current, involved students are SEAS’s best ambassadors. Students have the potential to further the school’s programs and enhance the reputation of the school by forming organizations for engineers, getting involved in the local community, attending conferences, participating in scientific competitions, and more. In recognition of this, the Engineering Student Council (ESC) has created a Student Travel and Activities Fund (TAF) to help support and finance these efforts. There is both a Fall semester and Spring semester TAF application cycle.

It is important to note that TAF is a budget maintained by ESC on behalf of the UVa Engineering Budget Office. This limits ESC’s ability to immediately provide the requested sum to a student/student organization. Therefore, all TAF rewards will be made with a reimbursement at the end of the semester. If an applicant is granted an allocation, a reimbursement must be filed for the approved value after the completion of an event or activity. To be eligible for reimbursement, the applicant will be required to turn in all related financial documents, including all proof of expenses (i.e. receipts).

The TAF application and proposed budget sheet are mailed out to students in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at some point at the beginning of each semester. With any questions, please contact tafseas@gmail.com

Send completed applications to tafseas@gmail.comPlease remember to submit both the application and the proposed budget sheet. Group applications, if granted, must consist of individual reimbursement forms turned in together.

Please Submit Applications by November 8rd 11:59 PM.

The CIO Co-Sponsorship grant offers a unique opportunity for clubs and organizations in the engineering school to enhance their programming, boost engagement, and foster a sense of community. By providing financial support, this grant allows student-led groups to host events and activities that may otherwise be limited due to budget constraints. This funding can cover a wide array of needs, such as event logistics, guest speakers, promotional materials, and more. As a result, clubs can create more impactful, well-attended events, which in turn enrich the E-School experience for all students. Furthermore, the CIO Co-Sponsorship encourages collaboration among student organizations, strengthening the interconnectivity within the Engineering Student Council. CIO leaders are contacted with the details to apply for co-sponsorship via email.

This scholarship is accepted on a rolling basis.

ESC believes it is important to recognize the leaders of E-Way. The students involved in contributing to our community deserve an opportunity to afford a memento to remember their time on grounds. The Class Ring Scholarship awards a reimbursement of $750 to one student each year. The student must be a third-year engineering student. There are several essay questions on the application which are sent out via email at the beginning of the fall semester. We encourage all E-School leaders and contributors to apply in their third year.
