Hardware Refresh Program (HRP)

The devices and peripherals are the recommendations for the School of Engineering faculty and staff. HRP (Hardware Refresh Program) devices are supported by Engineering IT. They have been selected based on performance and ease of customization for special cases. Devices being replaced by HRP will be returned to ENG IT inventory until the devices reach end of life and disposed according to UVA policy.

The Hardware Refresh Program offers Lenovo, Dell, & Apple devices

Who is eligible for HRP?

• Faculty and Staff of SEAS
  • Facilities Providing School Shared Services
    • IFAB: Multifunctional Microfabrication and Scalable Biomanufacturing Facility
    • Link Lab: Cyber-Physical Systems Research
    • NMCF: Nanoscale Materials Characterization Facility
  • Exceptions:
    • Research
    • New Positions – these will be covered by the department and picked up on the next HRP cycle for that device. This is currently a four-year cycle.
    • Transfer Positions & New Hires for Existing Positions – the incoming staff will assume the incumbent’s device. That device will be updated on the regular cycle as determined by purchase date.

What is included in a standard refresh setup?

• Device from list below – currently, ENG-IT is not offering desktop solutions
  • 34” Monitor w/ Hub
  • Exceptions:
    • Lack of space – 2 27” monitors with sound bar or wired headset
      • Device larger than 14” – 34” conference monitor with Thunderbolt dock
  • Webcam
  • Keyboard/Mouse
  • 6-in-1 Adapter
