Adam Barnes
Senior Lecturer, Electrical and Computer EngineeringAdam Barnes received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1992, and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1995. In 2019 he moved to the University of Virginia to teach the next generation of engineers. He is an AAAS member and interested in advancing engineering and science in both rising engineers and the general public.

Barrett is the inaugural Distinguished Professor in Biocomplexity, Executive Director of the Biocomplexity Institute, and Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Virginia. He is an interdisciplinary computational scientist who has published more than 100 research articles.

Hilary Bart-Smith
ProfessorProfessor Bart-Smith joined the University of Virginia faculty in the fall of 2002. Dr. Bart-Smith came to UVA from Princeton University where she worked at the Princeton Materials Institute with A.G. Evans. Bart-Smith has founded the Multifunctional Materials and Structures Laboratory and the Bio-inspired Engineering Research Laboratory.

He worked at Heinrich-Hertz-Institut and UVa, gaining industry experience in fiber optic communication systems. Beling authored 230+ papers, 3 chapters, and holds 4 patents.
