BME Going Pro Industry Internship Program (PhD)
Trains PhD students for careers in industry. The program has three components: Industry Internship, Mentoring, and Course in Professional Development.
Coulter Fellows Internship Supplemental Award (BS, ME, MS, PhD)
Provides supplemental funding for industry-facing fellowship or internship for UVA biomedical engineering trainees at all levels. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and there is an annual call for proposals in the spring.
Coulter's Postdoc Scholar Research Grant (Postdoc)
Competitive grant funding up to $25,000 to support innovative translational research projects conceived by postdocs in the UVA department of biomedical engineering. Successful awardees demonstrate their project’s potential to improve patient wellness.
Tomorrow's Professor Today Program (PhD, Postdoc)
Professional development program for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Facilitates the transition from student to academic professional and focuses on improving preparedness in three key areas—teaching, professional development, and adjustment to a university career.
PhD Plus Professional and Personal Development Program (PhD, Postdoc)
University-wide initiative to prepare PhD students and Postdoctoral scholars across all disciplines for long-term career success. Consists of extracurricular PhD+ Core Modules encompassing Leadership, Communicating, Career Design, Business, Community Impact, Grant Writing, Commercialization, Teaching and Science Policy.
Engineering Graduate Teaching Fellowship (PhD)
Experiential hands-on teaching practicum where graduate students co-instruct a course with UVA Engineering faculty and learn pedagogical skills.
Center for Engineering Career Development (BS, ME, MS, PhD)
Professional advising and counseling that builds job search and career self-management processes. We help students identify their strengths and interests so they gain confidence and competence as they plan for their future. We also help connect them with prospective employers.
