Civil Engineering Graduate Programs


The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering offers several graduate degree options for advanced study in civil and environmental engineering. An advanced degree can enhance employment options in industry, government, or academia.

Students may complete the ME either on-grounds, or through the Virginia Engineering Online program. Students completing an MS or PhD in Civil Engineering are actively involved in the department's research program.

  • Master of Engineering (ME) in Civil Engineering


    The ME degree is a coursework-based degree without a thesis. It is intended for individuals who seek to deepen their training in Civil and Environmental Engineering in preparation for a career in Civil Engineering or other closely related fields. Students may elect to pursue the ME degree on-Grounds in Charlottesville or remotely via VIRGINIA ENGINEERING ONLINE (VEO).
