Imagine tossing your carry-on into the overhead bin of an airplane in Washington, then disembarking about 90 minutes later in London, barely enough time to get tray service. Those who've sat in the middle seat on a transatlantic flight will tell you they wished their plane could travel at hypersonic speeds. The idea isn't that far-fetched – or far off – given a renewed interest in hypersonic flight.
