Ever wondered what employers really think of your resume? You can find out every fall at Resume Marathon, an event designed to connect you directly with employer and alumni volunteers who offer personalized feedback on your resume! When does Resume Marathon take place?
We usually host Resume Marathon during the first full week of September, and we'll always share the most up-to-date details in Handshake.
How does Resume Marathon work?
Representatives from 20-30 organizations volunteer to provide one-on-one resume reviews and critiques to students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Bring a printed copy of your resume for each company you want to visit. Volunteers will spend 10-15 minutes offering feedback you can incorporate in time for upcoming career fairs and the beginning of On-Grounds Interviewing!
After you've checked in at the Student Registration table, find your first employer of interest and visit their table for a personalized review of your resume. You're welcome to have as many resume reviews as you like during the five-hour event, but most students find it helpful to meet with just a few unique organizations.
Is Resume Marathon a recruiting event?
Resume Marathon is not designed to be a recruiting event. Employers and alumni participate to offer ways you might improve your formatting or tailor your content. However, while this is not a recruiting event, each year students meet their future employers for the first time while having their resume reviewed. If you're interested in working for a participating company, let the representative who's reviewing your resume know! Ask for their business card. Revisit them at the career fair, which usually takes place one to two weeks later.
In addition to Resume Marathon, you can meet with our team all year long for a one-on-one resume review by scheduling an advising appointment in Handshake or visiting us during our Drop-In avising hours.
