Andrew Grimshaw
Professor Emeritus, Computer ScienceAndrew Grimshaw is the chief designer and architect of Mentat and Legion. In 1999 he co-founded Avaki Corporation, and served as its Chairman and Chief Technical Officer, until 2005 when Avaki was acquired by Sybase. In 2003 he won the Frost and Sullivan Technology Innovation Award.

Carl T. Herakovich
Professor EmeritusProf. Herakovich specializes in fibrous composite materials. He founded the NASA Virginia Tech Composites Program, authored and edited many books, and held key roles in engineering organizations. Athletically known as "Rocky," he led in football scoring in 1958 and later coached at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

Barry Martin Horowitz
Munster ProfessorDr. Horowitz joined the University of Virginia’s faculty as a Professor in the Systems Engineering degree program in September 2001, after an industrial career involving the application of systems engineering to many large and complex systems. He assumed the role of Department Chair in 2009.

Hossack develops ultrasound imaging approaches for cardiovascular disease, including mouse heart imaging, catheter-based imaging and drug delivery, and molecular imaging for diagnosing stroke risk. He obtained B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Strathclyde and his postdoc at Stanford University.

Professor EmeritusJames M. Howe's research focuses on: i) the application of in-situ high-resolution and analytical transmission electron microscope techniques to study mechanisms of phase transformations and the structure and properties of interphase boundaries at the atomic level, and ii) the use of valence electron energy-loss spectroscopy (plasmons).

Deborah G. Johnson
Professor Emeritus, Engineering and Society Olsson Professor Emeritus of Applied Ethics Adjunct Professor, Department of Information Science and Media Studies, University of Bergen, NorwayDuring her career, Johnson has taught engineering students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Virginia. In research, Johnson is best known for her work on computer ethics and engineering ethics. She published one of the first textbooks on computer ethics in 1985.
