Faculty Positions

  • Tenured or Tenure-Track Faculty (tenure-eligible)

    The Department of Computer Science (CS) at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks five tenured or tenure-track faculty at all ranks and in all areas of computer science. We are seeking a comprehensive expansion of the department that also builds bridges with the many other strengths at the University. We welcome applications in all areas of CS. We are especially seeking to hire in areas that connect with human-computer interaction, computer vision, databases, programming languages, compilers, operating systems, and the UVA Precision Health Initiative (PHI).

    The primary responsibilities for all these tenured/tenure-track positions include research; teaching; and service to the department, university, and professional community. The appointment rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • Teaching-track Academic General Faculty (tenure-ineligible)

    The Department of Computer Science at the University of Virginia seeks applications for one or more teaching-track academic general faculty positions to begin in August 2024 and beyond. Academic general faculty positions are described fully in the policy PROV-004: Employment of Academic General Faculty Members. Candidates of any rank will be considered. We seek applicants who share our interest and enthusiasm for excellence in computing science education to join our department of 62 faculty, including 18 teaching faculty.  We are especially seeking faculty who can teach courses in computer organization, systems, theory, software engineering, databases, cloud computing, mobile computing, and HCI.  Rank is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
