    Cybersecurity Team Earns 2nd at 2026 Commonwealth Cyber Fusion Competition

    The University of Virginia's cybersecurity team took 2nd place in the 2026 Virginia Cyber Cup competition. Cyber Fusion is an invitation-only event for the 27 Virginia colleges that are NSA/NHS designated National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD). George Mason University took first place and the College of William and Mary finished third.

  • Best Student Paper Award Given at ICDM 2025

    Aidong Zhang, Thomas M. Linville Professor of Computer Science, and a team of current and former Ph.D. students were honored with the Best Student Paper Award at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM) in November. ICDM is recognized as one of the leading conferences in data mining and machine learning.
