  • Eric Anderson

Lecturer, Academic General Faculty Teaching Track
    headshot of Eric Anderson

One area I focus on is building and validating models of chemical processes. Modern commercial software has made many parts of this task much easier, but proper use of commercial tools requires judgment about the inputs and the level of modeling detail, process-specific knowledge, and validation against real-world performance data.

  • Jason Bates

    Assistant Professor, Chemical Engineering
    Jason Bates Headshot

Jason started his independent career at the University of Virginia in August 2023. Bates research group synthesizes catalysts with well-defined structures and use quantitative kinetic measurements and characterizations of their active centers to elucidate structure–reactivity relationships.

  • Bryan Berger

    Associate Professor
    Headshot of Bryan Berger

Bryan received and his PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware. He was a post-doctoral fellow in the department of biochemistry & biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Currently Bryan is associate professor of chemical engineering with a joint appointment in biomedical engineering.

  • Camille Bilodeau

    Assistant Professor, Chemical Engineering
    Camille Bilodeau Headshot

Dr. Bilodeau is currently a postdoctoral researcher studying machine learning for molecular design in Klavs Jensen’s group in the Chemical Engineering department at MIT. During her Ph.D., she received the Lawrence Livermore Advanced Simulations and Computation Graduate Fellowship. She has joined the University of Virginia as an assistant professor.

  • Steven R. Caliari

Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering
    Steven R. Caliari

Steven joined the faculty of the University of Virginia in August 2016 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering with a secondary appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

  • Giorgio Carta

    Lawrence R. Quarles Professor
    Giorgio Carta Headshot

Giorgio Carta has served an Editor of Biotechnology Journal from its founding and as a member of the Editorial Board of Separation Science & Technology. He has been a consultant for a number of chemical and pharmaceutical companies. He has published extensively in the area of adsorption and ion exchange with emphasis on protein chromatography.

  • Joshua J. Choi

Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering Associate Professor of Physics (by courtesy)
    Joshua J. Choi Headshot

Joshua Choi joined UVa in 2014 and is a recipient of a NASA Early Career Faculty Award (2015). His research group is developing novel and advanced synthetic methods to achieve robust heterostructure formation, surface structure and impurity doping. They seek to understand and control the structure-property relationships in these materials.
