About Zachary:
I'm a rising third year interested in studying artificial intelligence and the internet of things. At UVA I've served as the captain of the club water polo team, and I'm a member of the University Guide Service and Engineering Student Council as well. This year I had the privilege of working with several other undergraduates on a proposal for NASA's BIG Idea Challenge, and a partner and I took first place at the iDISPLA Adversarial Machine Learning Challenge. I'm also actively involved in a research project studying multi-SLAM methods with nano drone swarms. This summer I'm looking forward to reading, spending a lot of time outside, and relaxing after a turbulent semester.

How Zachary achieved success this year:
I found many of my favorite activities and experiences this year by applying to various opportunities that were sent to my UVA email. Professors, clubs, and other groups are constantly looking for undergraduates, and there are countless positions just waiting to be taken. I think this is a great way to branch out, which is so fun even if you're already very sure of your interests. That's one of the best things about being a student here: you can start doing something and run with it just because you want to!
