    Wenqiang "Winston" Chen, a computer science Ph.D. candidate, will give the prestigious Link Lab Student Seminar in recognition of his work to advance smart devices to improve user experience. The seminar is the preeminent talk given by a student in the 280+ person lab; being chosen as the presenter is also a hallmark Link Lab award for excellence in research.Chen's research has created technology for next-generation smart devices, like watches and glasses.

    The Link Lab Student Committee on Culture and Livability is a graduate student organization focused on building community through inclusivity.     John A. Stankovic, BP America Professor of Computer Science and director of the Link Lab, is an inaugural recipient of the IEEE Technical Committee on Real-Time Systems Test-of-Time Award. Instituted in 2020, the award recognizes papers that have had a sustained and significant impact on real-time systems research for at least one decade.Jack Stankovic received one of the four awards for his paper, “Misconceptions About Real Time Computing: A Serious Problem for Next Generation Systems,” IEEE Computer, Vol. 21, pp. 10-19, October 1988.

    Gabby Ringer, class of 2021, is a native of Mechanicsville, Virginia. She is a fourth-year who is double majoring in media studies and women, gender, and sexuality studies.
