Pushing the limits for materials in extreme environments

Formed in 2010, the Advanced High Temperature Materials research group is led by Dr. Beth Opila. The group focuses on cutting-edge ceramics, alloys, and coatings exposed to high temperatures and extreme environments such as hypersonic vehicle wing leading edges and combustion engines. The group aims to investigate the fundamental mechanisms operating at high temperatures through a combination of experimental and characterization techniques.
