    Adams earned his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from UVA in 1976 and returned to join the faculty in 1978. His “Physiology” class in the Department of Biomedical Engineering has a reputation of being one of the best courses in the Engineering School. In addition, he still accepts a full load of academic advisees annually.
